Why Families Need Support More Than Ever

Why Families Need Support-2026

Across the country, families are struggling to keep up with rising costs for essentials like food, housing, transportation, and healthcare. For many, tight budgets and economic uncertainty mean difficult choices every day—between paying bills, putting food on the table, and meeting other basic needs.

Children are especially vulnerable in these circumstances. Without consistent access to nutritious meals, their ability to learn, grow, and thrive can be affected. Hunger impacts not only their health and well-being today, but also their opportunities for the future.

"Hunger doesn't always look the way people expect," said Jerry Brown, Director of Public Relations at St. Mary's Food Bank. "Many parents working hard every day are still struggling to provide enough food for their families. It's critical that communities come together to support these families and ensure no child goes hungry."

Families facing hunger need more than food—they need a community that understands their challenges and is ready to help. Hunger-relief organizations play a vital role in providing that support but rising demand and increasing costs continue to strain resources across the country.

That's why CoreGiving launched Giving at Our Core, an annual fundraising campaign that brings people and partners together to support trusted hunger-relief organizations serving children and families in need. Through collective generosity, the campaign helps strengthen local efforts to provide nutritious meals and critical support in communities nationwide.

The challenges families face today are significant, but so is the power of our network coming together around a shared purpose. By investing in hunger-relief efforts, our supporters can help ensure more children and families receive the nourishment they need to thrive.

Together, we can help build stronger, healthier communities where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
