Second Annual CoreGiving Day Unites 2,100 Volunteers to Fight Childhood Hunger

Nationwide event provides more than 650,000 meals
In 2022, CoreGiving has raised over $2.5 million to fund more than 12.5 million meals

Chicago – October 20, 2022 – CoreGiving, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting childhood hunger across the U.S., hosted its second annual CoreGiving Day on October 13. This year’s event saw more than 2,100 employees from Blackstone and 14 of its real estate portfolio companies volunteer at food banks around the country, donating more than 17,000 hours to provide over 650,000 meals across 40 cities and more than 50 nonprofit organizations.

“It is tremendous to see nearly 900 Link colleagues volunteer more than 7,000 hours of their time to fight childhood hunger in the markets where we live and work,” said Luke J. Petherbridge, chairman and co‐founder of CoreGiving and chief executive officer of Link Logistics. “It is inspiring to see what a positive force we can be, especially when we come together with another 1,200 volunteers from other Blackstone portfolio companies to serve the communities where we operate.”

In 2021, CoreGiving raised $1.8 million for local food banks to provide 9 million meals. So far in 2022, CoreGiving has raised over $2.5 million to fund more than 12.5 million meals.

“Our goal for 2022 is to provide 14 million meals to hungry households and donate over 10,000 hours of hunger relief volunteer service—and in just this one day, we exceeded our volunteer service goal for the year,” said Bridget O'Connell, executive director, CoreGiving. “It is also amazing to see that the number of meals provided more than quadrupled from last year’s inaugural CoreGiving Day. I cannot thank our volunteers enough for their support of this important cause.”
